In the North

The market for live pigs in the North, the purchase price increased by 1,000 – 2,000 VND/kg in some places.

Specifically, Ha Nam province adjusted the transaction to 69,000 VND/kg, recording a slight increase of 1,000 VND/kg.

With an adjustment of 2,000 VND/kg, the price of live pigs in Thai Binh recorded the highest level in the region at 71,000 VND/kg.

Live pigs in other provinces in the region continued to be purchased at unchanged prices.

Today’s live pig price in the North is in the range of 68,000 – 71,000 VND/kg.

Currently, in Vietnam, African swine fever is developing complicatedly in some localities, notably in Lang Son, there were 55 outbreaks in 53 communes of 10/11 districts and cities, causing 2,374 pigs to become sick and be destroyed; Bac Kan had 81 outbreaks in 77 communes of 8 districts, causing 4,724 pigs to become sick and be destroyed.

In response to the above situation, the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) has just sent a document to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Son and Bac Kan provinces to strengthen the prevention and control of African swine fever.

Accordingly, the Department of Animal Health requested Lang Son and Bac Kan provinces to concentrate resources and urgently direct local veterinary management agencies and relevant units to rectify the prevention and control of animal diseases in accordance with regulations.

Localities must focus resources to promptly support and allocate funds for commune-level authorities to thoroughly handle outbreaks and prevent new outbreaks from occurring. At the same time, they must organize the destruction of sick pigs, pigs suspected of being sick, and pigs that have died from disease; conduct general cleaning, spray disinfectants, and disinfect; promptly detect, prevent, and strictly handle cases of selling, trading, and transporting sick pigs, pigs suspected of being sick, and dumping dead pigs into the environment, causing disease spread and environmental pollution in accordance with regulations, the Government Electronic Information Portal reported.

In the Central Highlands region

According to records, pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions decreased slightly in many places.

Specifically, after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, live pigs in Binh Dinh, Thua Thien Hue and Binh Thuan provinces were respectively implemented at 66,000 VND/kg, 67,000 VND/kg and 68,000 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak province, traders purchased live pigs at the lowest price of 65,000 VND/kg – recording a decrease of up to 2,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday morning.

The remaining provinces and cities maintained stable transactions compared to yesterday.

Currently, live pig prices in the Central and Central Highlands regions are in the range of 65,000 – 69,000 VND/kg.

In the Southern region

The trading price of live pigs in the Southern region decreased by 1,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, the purchasing price of live pigs in Vinh Long, Can Tho and Tra Vinh was brought down to 68,000 VND/kg.

Traders in Hau Giang and Tien Giang are trading live pigs at a common price of 67,000 VND/kg after a downward adjustment.

In the Southern region today, the purchasing price fluctuates between 67,000 – 70,000 VND/kg.
