Despite being heavily affected by natural disasters, Thanh Hoa province’s agricultural sector is still maintaining a high growth rate in 2024 with quick recovery solutions.
Households increase herd restoration and safe livestock farming at the end of the year.
To achieve this goal, Thanh Hoa province is focusing on implementing solutions to overcome the damage; in which the livestock sector of the province is focusing on re-herding short-term products such as chickens, ducks, geese, etc. to serve the food market at the end of the year.
According to statistics from the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine of Thanh Hoa province, the total poultry herd in the province is 26 million, the pig herd is over 1.3 million and the buffalo and cow herd is over 440 thousand. Every year, the whole Thanh Hoa province has an output of about 300 thousand tons of fresh meat of all kinds, over 310 million eggs. With this output, in addition to providing enough food for the province, the establishments also sell about 25% of the output outside the province, including the end of the year.
In Yen Dinh district, to serve the year-end market, the chicken farm system in Dinh Hoa commune, Yen Dinh district is investing and upgrading equipment, machinery and automatic feeding systems, actively preparing to restore the herd with 100,000 super meat chickens. Currently, the price of livestock products from the middle of the year has shown signs of increasing again, and closer to the end of the year, the price of chicken tends to increase sharply, so farmers are excited to increase their herds.
In addition, Yen Dinh district also accounts for over 45% of the livestock production in Thanh Hoa province. With its strengths in the livestock sector, this locality is taking advantage of favorable times to develop the scale of herds for the end of the year. Along with measures to restore the herd, the district is also guiding people to implement measures to ensure safety and disease prevention in livestock farming to minimize risks.
Mr. Le Van Nhat, Manager of the Energy Chicken Farm, Dinh Hoa Commune, Yen Dinh District, said that since October, right after selling the chicken batches of the year, the farm has reinforced the barn, used chemicals and lime powder to clean the barn, cleaned the livestock equipment, removed the disease-isolated barn, renovated the barn and when restoring the herd, the chicks are vaccinated to improve their resistance, thereby ensuring sufficient supply of chicken products for the market in the province, ensuring the health of consumers.
According to Mr. Le Van Tanh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dinh Hoa Commune, Yen Dinh District, the People’s Committee of Dinh Hoa Commune is focusing on directing propaganda to farm owners, focusing on herd restoration to prevent diseases for livestock and poultry. In particular, the commune also directs specialized departments to propagate, prevent and vaccinate, and is ready to organize effective epidemic prevention, contributing to helping people feel secure in raising livestock and developing production.
Households increase herd restoration and safe livestock farming to serve the year-end food market.
Mr. Trinh Xuan Quy, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Yen Dinh district, said that the People’s Committee of the district is still recommending that people, especially those with barns, renovate their barns to raise livestock for the end of the year. At the same time, it is directing livestock households, farms, and livestock facilities to cooperate with 4 large companies to provide safe livestock breeds. Because the total livestock herd in the district increases at the end of the year, in addition to promoting disease prevention, the People’s Committee of Yen Dinh district also promotes vaccination, effectively controls livestock farming, and guides people on safe livestock farming, thereby helping people feel secure in production and herd restoration.
In Lang Chanh district, the district has issued a document directing livestock farms to ensure disease safety when restocking and disinfecting barns. Because at the end of 2024, there will be severe cold spells in the area that will affect livestock development, the district People’s Committee is directing livestock farmers to choose nutritious foods to increase the resistance of livestock.
Mr. Le Quang Tung, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Chanh district, said that there are about 120 livestock farms in the area, including 2 pig farms, the rest are chicken farms with buffaloes and cows. To guide farmers in re-herding, the district People’s Committee has promoted disease control measures, improved safe livestock farming environment, organized training courses, and developed livestock and poultry farming. At the same time, promoted poultry vaccination in the areas.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Cuong, Head of the Department of Breed Management and Livestock Techniques, Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Thanh Hoa province, affirmed that there are more than 1,080 livestock farms in the province; the province alone has over 1.3 million pigs raised at livestock facilities.
Due to the large number of livestock, the province always conducts inspections, supervision, and re-herding of livestock in a safe and disease-free manner every year. At the end of the year, the demand for livestock products will increase compared to normal days, so the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine will guide people to raise livestock, restore herds, and prevent disease outbreaks, in order to provide enough food for the market at the end of the year.
