Recently, the output of cage-raised fish has been very favorable, fish prices have increased again after a long period of decline, helping the farming industry recover.
The most excited are tilapia farmers. They said that the farming environment is very favorable at this time, the loss rate is low, and the selling price is high.
In Ben Tre province, farmers are currently harvesting tilapia and selling it for 52-55 thousand VND/kg, with a profit of about 15 thousand VND/kg. This is the highest profit in recent years.

In addition, the selling price of other types of fish such as silver carp, grass carp, white pomfret, etc. has also increased by 5-10% compared to 3 months ago. According to farmers, the reason for the good price at this time is because the harvested fish yield is very low, supply cannot meet demand. With good profits, farmers in Ben Tre province are boldly investing in re-raising, however, the supply of fish fry is currently scarce, leading to an increase in prices.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ben Tre, the province currently has about 70 facilities specializing in raising fish in cages on the river with an area of about 66,000 m2, concentrated in communes along the Tien River in Chau Thanh district.

Many farms with dozens of cages and rafts with many types of fish combine with frogs, catfish, etc. A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Van Muoi Hai, a fish cage farmer on the Tien River in Phu Tuc Commune, Chau Thanh District, who has been involved in this model for over 10 years. “Currently, red tilapia is very expensive, over 52,000 VND/kg, this price makes a profit of about 15,000 VND/kg,” Mr. Muoi Hai shared.
