More than 10 days have passed since storm No. 3 made landfall in our country, affecting more than 4,200 cages and rafts that were damaged and swept away. The aquaculture industry in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh suffered heavy losses, affecting the supply of raw materials for seafood processing enterprises in the area. In addition, from now until the end of the year, the demand for seafood supply is expected to increase. Therefore, synchronous support solutions from enterprises and localities will be needed.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers said that after storm No. 3, enterprises are suffering damage to facilities, reduced business opportunities and disruptions in the transportation of export orders.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers recommends that businesses affected by storm No. 3 can build and repair first and complete procedures later. In addition, insurers need to have timely support solutions for businesses to have cash flow to restore production.

“At a time like this, banks will consider not having measures to postpone debts for businesses that are suffering from the storm. We also recommend that banks consider converting short-term loans into medium-term loans to ease financial pressure for businesses,” said Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam – Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said it will direct businesses and industry associations to join in supporting people in recovering production, providing seeds, food, and materials, etc., and meeting maximum food demand, especially before, during, and after the Lunar New Year. The Ministry also proposed that the Government extend and defer debt for businesses, cooperatives, and households. At the same time, it will address insurance and reinsurance issues to support the fisheries sector in the coming time.
