Regular parasite control is essential to maintain the health and vigor of cattle. Among various treatments, the Pour-on method is a modern and exceptionally easy approach.
Parasitic diseases are common ailments in cattle. These diseases significantly impact livestock health, leading to exhaustion, emaciation, and poor productivity. The most common prevention method is injectable deworming. However, for veterinarians and livestock farmers (raising cattle, buffalo, goats, or sheep), routine injections are not always smooth or convenient. Therefore, we would like to introduce the Pour-on Method—a super simple new technique for parasite control.

1. THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF ECTOPARASITES (TICKS, LICE, ETC.) ON CATTLE
Ectoparasites such as ticks, lice, mange mites, and fleas live and thrive by sucking the blood of cattle, causing weakness and anemia. Furthermore, they can transmit several Blood Parasite Diseases (Hemoparasites) such as Trypanosomiasis, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, and Theileriosis.

2. WHAT IS THE POUR-ON METHOD?
This method is widely applied in companion animals. Globally, the Pour-on Method has long been used in livestock to optimize time, labor, and costs, making deworming for cattle, buffalo, goats, and sheep much simpler. However, this method is not yet popular in Vietnam.

3. HOW TO PERFORM THE POUR-ON METHOD
The medication is applied from the wither along the backline to the rump. The drug rapidly penetrates the skin and concentrates in the sebaceous glands to form “reservoirs”. The release of the drug through the sebaceous glands ensures a continuous supply to the hair and skin for several weeks post-application. The active ingredients target the neuroreceptors, affecting the motor nerves and causing paralysis and death in ticks, mange mites, lice, fleas, and roundworms.

In Vietnam, several companies import “pour-on” parasite control medications that you can refer to: INTERMECTIN POUR-ON. It prevents and eliminates ticks, mange, lice, maggots, flies, and especially gastrointestinal roundworms in livestock.
In conclusion, the Pour-on Method offers livestock farmers and veterinarians a highly effective and simplified solution for parasite control in cattle.
