ENERGI 50 INJ
SOLUTION FOR INJECTION & INFUSION
Composition
Glucose, Solvents ad.
Indications
Glucose is a 6-carbon monosaccharide, commonly taken orally, administered intravenously, or infused intravenously. Glucose is used to treat cases of sugar and fluid deficiency, hypoglycaemia, conduct glucose tolerance tests, and serve as a carrier for other substances.
Glucose is rapidly absorbed in the intestine. In animals with hypoglycaemia, the peak concentration in the bloodstream appears 40 minutes after ingestion. Glucose is metabolised into carbon dioxide and water, simultaneously releasing energy
Dosage
The amount of liquid to be administered will depend on the current deficit, maintenance requirements, and ongoing losses estimated from the animal’s history, clinical examination, and biological results
In all species, the recommended maximum dose is 50 ml per kg per day. Subcutaneous injection is advised, with a reduced dosage
For intravenous injection, the administration rate must be adjusted for each animal. The goal should be to correct about half of the deficit calculated in the first one to two hours. In general, the maximum infusion rate of 10 ml per kg of body weight per hour should not be exceeded During intravenous infusion, animals should be monitored for signs of fluid overload (mainly a sign of pulmonary edema)
