On June 3, the Division of Economic, Corruption, Smuggling, and Environmental Crime Investigation under the Quang Tri Provincial Police reported that it had recently discovered and dealt with a truck carrying nine dead pigs parked at the centralized animal slaughterhouse in Dong Luong Ward, Dong Ha City, awaiting slaughter.
At 5:10 p.m. on June 2, in coordination with the Quang Tri Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the division discovered a truck bearing license plate number 75C-10301 parked at the facility, showing signs of transporting dead animals for slaughter.
Upon inspection, the authorities found nine dead pigs on board. The pigs belonged to Mr. Dang Van Duy, born in 1991, residing in Phong Dien Town, Hue City. He had reportedly purchased the pigs from trucks operating in Hai Lang District. At the time of the inspection, Mr. Duy was unable to provide documents proving the origin or source of the pigs.
The entire incident was documented by the Division of Economic, Corruption, Smuggling, and Environmental Crime Investigation in collaboration with the Quang Tri Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. The pigs were confiscated and destroyed on the same night. Authorities are continuing to investigate and handle the case in accordance with the law.
